Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. We also use closely related technologies such as local storage and pixel tags.
2. Consent banner, Google Consent Mode, and your choice
The first time you visit, we show a cookie banner. You can Accept or Reject non-essential cookies and similar technologies.
Acceptenables our non-essential analytics (PostHog) and tells Google’s tags that you agree to the ad-related consent signals we use (see below). Rejectkeeps PostHog disabled and sends “denied” ad consent signals to Google. We still load the AdSense script, but Google applies Consent Mode: you may see non-personalised or limited ads, or no ads, depending on your region and Google’s policies.
We use Google Consent Mode (including Consent Mode v2 signals such as ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization). We do not use Google Analytics on this site; the analytics_storage signal remains denied for our integration (analytics are handled by PostHog, not Google Analytics).
To remember your choice between visits, we store a single value in your browser’s local storage under the key cma-site-consent-v1. PostHog separately stores its own opt-in/out state when you use analytics.
3. Categories of cookies we use
Essential
A small number of cookies are required for the site to function — for example, remembering display preferences or providing security. We also treat storage needed solely to record your cookie choice as strictly necessary. These cannot be disabled through our banner without affecting how the site works.
Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used. We only enable PostHog analytics after you click Accept on the banner, or when you have previously accepted and we still hold that choice. PostHog may then set a first-party cookie or local storage identifier so it can recognise returning visitors anonymously.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We display ads using Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to deliver, frequency-cap and (where you have consented via our banner and Consent Mode) personalise ads. If you reject non-essential cookies, Google’s tags receive denied consent signals; behaviour depends on Google’s current policies for your region. Common cookies include those set on .google.com and .doubleclick.net.
